The most commonly used sockets are 12 point because they are easier
to position for rapid seating on hex or 12 point fasteners. Proto's
TORQUEPLUS design further improves the efficiency of the 12 point
design. Proto's 6 point sockets, also incorporate TORQUEPLUS are
often used on stubborn or worn hex bolts, or bolts made from a soft material.
Proto hand sockets incorporate the TORQUEPLUS wrenching system.
This high performance design allows the socket to contact the fastener
away from the corner while also dispensing stress over a large area.
TORQUEPLUS
Allows up to 15% more torque to be applied to the fastener.
Reduces the risk of fastener rounding.
Provides a greater opportunity to turn worn, rounded fasteners.
Sockets incorporating TORQUEPLUS are identified in each
individual product section.
Standard length sockets are the most commonly used length because
they are more suited for close, confined areas. Deep sockets are used
to accommodate nuts where bolts protrude or to access a fastener in a
recessed area.
Proto offers a wide range of hand sockets and drive tools ranging from
1/4" to 1" drive, that accommodate a fastener sizes of 1/16" thru 3-1/2"
and 2mm-60mm.
PROTO SOCKET SETS
Large sets build logically from smaller sets. Each set features a more
extensive listing of sockets, drive tools, and accessories than the next
smaller set that precedes it.
An equal offering of standard and deep sockets.
A complete range of sockets sizes–including metric.
Sets with the most popular accessories.
Popular ranges of sockets are available on clips and rails permitting
expansion with out duplication of drive tools.
To protect your tools and provide permanent set containment, each set
includes a heavy metal box, or clip and rails. Socket sets in metal boxes
also include a plastic tray which provides easy organization as well as
added protection.
IMPACT SOCKETS
Proto manufactures a wide range of impact sockets from 1/4" square
drive up to 2-1/2" square drive. Size openings range from 3/16" up to our
largest 8" opening to meet every industrial need. Metric sizes are also
available from 4mm to 65mm. Proto also offers several different styles
from 6 point to 4, 8, or 12 point, standard length or deep, to surface drive
and magnetic.
Impact sockets are manufactured from special alloy steel for strength
and durability.
Impact sockets are heat treated for the correct balance of strength
and hardness.
Socket wall thickness is optimized to provide the required strength
while retaining ample access to restricted fasteners.
Thin wall sockets are available for special tight clearance applications.
The depth of the socket opening is designed to fully engage all standard
fasteners for more secure operation.
All impact sockets feature two through holes. A groove to accept a
retaining ring and pin to secure the socket to the power tool anvil.
All Proto impact sockets feature chamfered service ends and for quick
and positive fastener engagement.
Patented impact universal joints and sockets provide more power
and last longer.
One piece construction ensures concentricity.
Special heat treat ensures long life.
